POP superstar Lady Gaga has checked into hospital to undergo hip surgery
The Poker Face star scrapped the remaining date on her Born This Way Ball tour earlier this month after being diagnosed with synovitis, a severe inflammation of the joints.
This week she was seen using a wheelchair which she had named 'Emma' to take the strain off her legs
And now Gaga is going under the knife in a bid to address the problem.

In a post on her Twitter page today, she writes "Going in for surgery now.
"Thank you so much for sending me love and support. I will be dreaming of you."
It is thought Gaga will lose millions after cancelling the gigs as insurers argue the star's injury was her own fault for working too hard and scheduling too many dates.
The Born This Way Ball tour began in Seoul, South Korea on April 27, 2012 and was originally due to end in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on March 20, 2013.
It is not yet known if Gaga will find a way to play new shows to make up for those that have been cancelled.
