On November 12, 2012, the nation awoke still reeling from news that CIA director General David Petraeus resigned after confessing to an extramarital affair with the woman who was his biographer, Paula Broadwell.
The story continues to develop and while some question the timing of Petraeus’ resignation, others say there are too many questions involved. New York Homeland Security Committee Chair Peter King stated, “This seems to have been going on for several months. And yet now, it appears that they're saying that the FBI didn't realize until election day that General Petraeus was involved. It just doesn't add up. And you've got this type of investigation, the FBI investigating e-mails, the e-mails leading to the CIA director, and it's taking four months to find out that the CIA director was involved.”
The story took a twisted turn when it was learned that Broadwell allegedly sent emails to another woman.
The emails have been described as harassing. Latest reports suggest an investigation into the behavior was several months long but it wasn’t until November 6, 2012, the night of the presidential election, that the full breadth of the scandal was revealed.
